Child Cleft Lip and PalateCleft lip and cleft palate referred as orofacial cleft are a group of birth defects. These are openings in the upper lip which may extend into the nose.

This opening can either be on one side, both the sides or in the centre. Occurs due to tissues not joining properly when the baby is developing inside the womb.

These can typically result in feeding problems, speech problems, hearing problems and frequent ear infections.

Usually can be treated successfully with surgery which would help regain the natural appearance of the baby. These operations can be performed after a few months of the baby being born.
